COVID-19 has brought a lot of uncertainty to America and the world. Many of us feel like we are walking on eggshells—anxious and fearful about the future. Our country has never needed to experience the grace and peace of Jesus more than in this season.

As a response, it’s now more than ever to start viewing your job, or daily routine as a ministry. As you stock the shelves of our grocery stores, take meetings, offer curbside service, or make up the front lines of our medical facilities, you can prayerfully ask the Lord, “How can I use my job to show your love to the world?”

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maggie Harrel, World Race Alum, has continued to work her job at Chick-fil-A. She knew that she had the opportunity to offer kindness to people who might be struggling. “You choose people,” she said. “Even if they’re being super hard to deal with, asking for every sauce and making you go back inside four different times, you’re doing it with a smile and serving them wholeheartedly.” Maggie, like many others, felt the Lord telling her to use her job as a ministry. “Some people may be walking through something dark and happened to go to Chick-fil-A. If you’re really nice to them, that could be the only light they see that day. I always choose to be that.”

You may not feel like your current job is a ministry. However, whether you’re actively treating Coronavirus patience as a doctor or nurse, serving customers at a drive-thru, or meeting with co-workers on zoom, you have the opportunity to show others the love of Jesus.

Colossians 3:23 says, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

So thank you for all the work you do for us every day. Thank you for choosing to serve us in a time when many are afraid. Thank you for making your job a ministry. You are making a difference.
